CDI Engineering is currently looking for a Mechanical Designer to join our succesful team; join CDI today.

Candidate will be expected to define, draw, specify, and coordinate the construction of piping systems in a process plant.

Involves the generation of the following types of drawings:

P&ID's (Piping and Instrument Diagrams) for new and existing processes.

Equipment Arrangement Plans & Sections

Piping Plans and Sections

Piping Isometrics

Other Mechanical Drawings for Vessel Fabrication, Supports, etc.

Candidate will be expected to take accurate measurements in the field to achieve proper piping and mechanical fit-up on projects.

Other field duties will include:

Prepare estimated costs for piping design of projects.

Manage workload to meet agreed upon design cost and completion dates.

Coordination of new piping and mechanical construction.

Coordination of piping systems with other trades.

Checking deliveries of piping components for field crews.

Preparation of as-built drawings for records purposes.

Resolve layout problems during construction for best operational fit and lowest cost.

Specification of materials referencing plant piping standards.

Specification of quality assurance for fabricated piping based on ASME B31.3.

Evaluation of piping per ASME B31.3 design criteria.

Quality assurance inspections during construction.

As workload requires, manage and direct the activity of two to three designers preparing fabrication drawings, equipment layouts and bills of materials.

Experience in CAD (AutoCAD) is required.

Ability to generate manual drawings and/or hand sketches may be required.

Must also be competent in MS-Office (Word & Excel) for material take-offs and other correspondence.

Familiarity with chemical process equipment (tanks, distillation columns, heat exchangers, etc.) is desirable.

Knowledge of piping and vessel Codes and Specifications is also desirable.

Candidate will work with in-house Project Engineers, Process Engineers and Designers, as well as field construction contractors and in-house crews.
